Singapore has left for a stagnation ( like Kong ) that will last 20 years (a stagnation not a recession) .The port does not make a container more since 2011 because Shanghai, Shenzhen and port Klang take all.Take a vacation and return to Singapore in 20 years you will not see a high tower anymore. Conclusion, save, work, and smile, because the standard of living will remain at a high level in Singapore.
