The new ThinkPad series comes with features that claim to offer enhanced privacy and data security.

Similar to previous years, the ThinkPad series offers a range of workstation models and the more portable Yoga series models. The new workstation models include the ThinkPad T490, ThinkPad P43 and ThinkPad P1 (Gen2) models. Lenovo didn’t reveal the prices but the spoke in details about the new upgrades that the 2019 series of ThinkPad models have. And most of the upgrades are meant to offer improved security and data privacy.

The ThinkPad T490 is meant of multitasking professionals and hence, comes in a lightweight body with the trademark ThinkPad durability. The T490 weighs only 1.46Kg and is only 17.9mm thick. Compared to the last-gen model, the 2019 model features 22 per cent slimmer bezels. The screen measures standard at 14-inches but customers can equip it with up to WQHD IPS display with support for Dolby Vision. There’s also a Low Power FHD IPS screen as an option.
Lenovo is offering up to 8th Gen Intel Core i7 processors with vPro security built-in. Customers can also choose between integrated Intel Graphics 620 or Nvidia’s dedicated MX 250 graphics card. It can be equipped with up to 48GB DDR4 RAM and up to 1TB PCIe SSD storage. With its 50Whr battery, Lenovo claims up to 16 hours of battery life on a single charge.

In terms of security features, Lenovo is offering a Match-on-Chip fingerprint touch sensor along with an IR camera mated to windows Hello for face unlock features. The webcam comes with a ThinkShutter camera cover that users can use to cover the webcam when they don’t need it. The ThinkPad PrivacyGuard feature will dim the screen and make it difficult for people adjacent to you to see the screen. The PrivacyAlert feature will also notify if someone is shoulder snooping.

Along with ThinkPad T490, Lenovo also unveiled the Lenovo ThinkPad P43s which is amongst the smallest and lightest portable workstations supporting 100 per cent Adobe colour gamut and Dolby Vision HDR technology. The Lenovo ThinkPad P1 is the more powerful version with Intel Xeon processors and can be equipped with 4GB NVIDIA Quadro P1000 discrete graphics to support Client AI.

  1. How can u b so dumb….u r continuously showing x1 carbon(7th gen) and x1 yoga(4th gen) and saying they are T490 & P43… Plz do some research ….disappointed!! U should be embarresed.
