New Delhi, Aug 04: The Union Cabinet on Friday approved the proposal to establish the Central Academy for Police Training (CAPT) at Bhopal in state of Madhya Pradesh.  

The release from the Cabinet said that the academy at Bhopal, i.e. CAPT, headed by a Director, in the rank of IGP, has been approved to handle the dearth of training facilities for the Deputy Superintendent of Police, directly recruited by the State Governments.

The Cabinet also approved the creation of one post of Director, CAPT in the rank of Inspector General of Police in Pay Band of Rs 37,400- 67,000 plus grade pay of Rs 10,000.

Government allocated Rs 4.92 billion under the 12th Plan for Central academy for Police Training.

Recurring expenditure for creation of one post of Director/IGP will be Rs 938,520 per annum at the minimum of the pay scale.

With the establishment of CAPT, the completion schedule for which was announced, it is expected that problem of training facility shortage will be resolved.
