New Delhi, March 19: Say it a dharma of coalition government or lack of any strong bargain stick against the Mamata Banerjee, unlike in case of Mulayam Singh Yadav, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has to accept resignation of Railway Minister Dinesh Trivedi with a mote of 'Regret'.
“I regret the departure of Shri Trivedi,” PM said in Lok Sabha adding that the Railway Minister had presented a budget which promised the “vision” outlined by his predecessor Mamata Banerjee.
In a post budget interview, PM Singh had said for growth we have to 'bite bullets'. Unknowingly, he might be referring to this episode of accepting resignation of his own cabinet minister under pressure of a coalition partner. Major ally of Congress Party led UPA government; the Trinamool Congress forced PM to accept the resignation of Trivedi, for the proposed rail fare hike in the budget.
The buck does not stops here, after the forced removal PM has to accept another Mamata Di puppet named Mukul Roy as next Railway Minister, all he is doing is save government under coalition dharma.
Replying to a debate on Motion of Thanks to President's address in Lok Sabha, PM said, “I received late last night an email message followed by a formal letter from Dinesh Trivedi tendering his resignation as Railway Minister.”
PM said he would forward the letter to the President with the recommendation to accept the resignation.
On appointing a new Railway Minister he said, “A new railway minister will be sworn in shortly. He will have the onerous duty of carrying forward the challenging task of modernizing our railway system.”
