Raipur, Oct 23: L K Advani slams Congress-led UPA government at the Delhi for its "lackadaisical" and "inconsistent" policy towards Naxalite violence he was speaking to the media persons at Raipur as a part of his 38-day nationwide Jan Chetna Yatra for "good governance and clean politics".
"The UPA government’s unclear and lackadaisical policy towards Naxalite violence is dangerous. Naxals are against the constitution and democracy. They want to seize the power through violence," Mr Advani told reporters here.
Mr Advani also expressed grief on the death of six police personnel in a firefight with the Naxals on Friday near Jagdalpur.
"I pay homage to six brave police personnel. They have joined the ranks of those martyred in defence of democracy and the rule of law," he added.
Adwani further added that unfortunately, the Centre’s "inconsistent" policy towards Naxalite violence, indifference to the state governments’ efforts to establish order and pave the way for economic progress, has "hampered" the country’s fight against internal subversion.
He supported the steps taken by Chief Minister Raman Singh who had waged a relentless battle against those who have no faith in the constitution and democracy.
"These people are stalling the development of backward region, destroying schools, preventing road construction and other schemes to bring prosperity and peace," Mr Advani stated.
Senior BJP leaders Ravi Shankar Prasad, Ananth Kumar and others were also present on the occasion.
