Chennai,Aug,7: Union Science and Technology Minister and former Maharashtra CM Vilasrao Deshmukh was on Monday evening air lifted to Chennai's Global Health City super-specialty hospital from here after his health condition worsened at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai.
Vilasrao Deshmukh had been undergoing medical treatment at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai for the past seven days. He had been diagnosed with cirrhosis of liver and both his kidneys were found dysfunctional.
His condition had deteriorated and doctors had decided to put him on the life support system yesterday, following which a decision was taken to shift him to Chennai via air ambulance.
The team of Doctors at Chennai’s Global Health City super-specialty hospital confirmed that they would carry out liver transplant once Deshmukh’s condition stabilizes at present minister on ventilator support.
