New Delhi, May 15: Last of the 14-individuals accused in 2G Spectrum allocation scam, former telecommunication minister A Raja today get the bail from Patiala Session Court.

Court refuted the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) claims that as Raja is allegedly a kingpin of the scam should not be granted bail as he could influence the investigation.  

Opposing t he bail plea, the CBI said that he cannot be released on the ground of parity as the charges levelled against him are of 'serious nature'.

In his bail plea, Raja had contended that case against him is "false and fabricated" and "not sustainable in law."

Raja’s counsel argue that he cooperated most with the investigation and deserves to get the bail as most of the accused are already out on bail.

Hearing both the parties, court granted him bail on surety of Rs 2.5 million.

Notably, it is first time when Raja approached court for bail as it was almost sure that he won’t get that before all gets bail.   

Earlier in the morning, Raja reached court, where he met Kanimozhi, DMK MP and another 2G accused. His wife, MA Parmesweri, was also present with him inside the court.

The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) has pegged the loss at Rs 1.76 trillion, which government view as exaggeration.

Raja, was arrested in February last year, has been charged with criminal breach of trust by a public servant, cheating, criminal conspiracy, forgery and accepting a bribe. If found guilty, he will get life imprisonment.
