After fighting from illness for a long time, Superstar Rajesh Khanna passed away on Wednesday afternoon at his residence Aashirwad in Mumbai. He was 70.
He was admitted to Lilavati Hospital on June 23 and then discharged on July 8. On July 14, he was readmitted and since then he was said to be in critical condition.
He was fighting from illness quite a long time and buzz had it that the actor’s liver had been damaged due to his alcohol addiction.
He is survived by his wife, actress Dimple Kapadia and two daughters, Twinkle and Rinkie.
Khanna is referred to as the "First Superstar" of Hindi cinema. He made his debut in 1966 with Aakhri Khat and rose to prominence with his performances in films like Raaz, Baharon Ke Sapne, Ittefaq and Aradhana.
